Women’s Educational Attainment, 2000-2005

Poster Abstract: Women’s educational attainment is reported to be on the rise. A detailed analysis is warranted to identify which groups of women are experiencing gains. The purpose of this poster is to provide an overview of women’s educational attainment using six years of data from the American Community Survey (2000-2005). Demographic characteristics such as income, poverty status, receipt of public assistance and welfare payments, and state of residence will be included in the analysis to measure and compare women’s educational attainment. Policy makers and social welfare programs that seek to promote educational attainment among women will find this information useful as it will identify those segments of the female population that are experiencing gains. It will also highlight states that have seen improvements over time.
